Where Am I?

pets that you usually get as a kid...for each birthday party

I would get a few golden fish or turtle or a little bird. I never used to keep them. They say it is a good way of teaching kids to learn how to be responsible. buy I never connected. All my fish died or either being fed too much or too little, I still don't know the exact reason but I would find them floating dead in the morning. I remember turtles food smelt very bad. I liked the bird but it flew away while we were on holiday and neighbors were looking after her, but I know I always wanted a dog and my parents kept saying "it is a too big responsibility, we will end up looking after it". Anyway on the Christmas eve 199o we managed to persuade my dad (he wasn't much of a work actually, the problem was mum) to get a dog, but he said "don't get anything small, I don't like small dogs", so we brought a baby German Sheppard home already the next day. Around that time, my mum had a back operation and she was lying on the bad. When we came home her first words were "they have brought a dog home, I am going kill myself!" She also didn't know that the dog is going grow a lot and a week later she has left to watering place for rehabilitation cause of her back . When she came back home after 3 months, dog was already huge and she was really scared of him and so pissed off with my dad, my sister and me that she hardly spoke to us for a period of 6 months or so. We end up having Dirk for 11 years and when he died she was the one who was crying the most. I have learned that dogs are like human beings, like having kids almost but also that no one looks forward to see you so openly and so naive as they do. I have got a little puppy just 4 months ago, just after I moved to the Netherlands. It was surprise again, this time for my boyfriend, but he wasn't that hard to win over. He spoke to me only after 3 days...
